Results are estimates of one path

Each test measures the connection between your device and the Cloudflare data centre that served it, at one moment. Results can differ from your provider's advertised speeds, from other speed tests, and from your experience with particular websites, games or apps. Wi-Fi, other devices, your hardware, VPNs and network congestion all affect results. Our methodologyexplains the method and its limits in detail.

Results are not certified measurements. Do not rely on them alone for legal, contractual, regulatory or financial decisions. If you are in a dispute with your provider, ask them which test they accept, and use several tests at different times as supporting evidence.

Guides are general information

Our guides explain common situations in general terms. They are not professional advice for your specific network. Changing router settings is at your own risk. If you are unsure, ask your provider or a qualified technician. Third-party figures we quote, such as the speeds recommended by streaming services, can change. Check the linked sources for current values.
