About SpeedCheckWeb
A free internet speed test built around three ideas: real measurements, clear explanations, and respect for your privacy.
What we do
SpeedCheckWeb measures your internet connection from your browser: download and upload speed, latency, jitter, latency under load and, where it can be measured, packet loss. It then explains what the numbers mean for things you actually do, such as streaming, video calls and gaming.
What makes us different
- Honest numbers. Every result comes from real data transfers. If something cannot be measured, we say so instead of showing a made-up value. Our full methodology is public.
- Latency under load, not just speed. Many "fast" connections still lag when they are busy. We measure and explain this bufferbloat effect in every test.
- Privacy first. No account, no stored IP addresses, and your test history stays in your own browser. See our privacy policy.
- Plain English. Our guides explain networking without jargon and link to their sources.
How it works
Tests run between your browser and our measurement service on Cloudflare's global network, which has data centres in hundreds of cities. Cloudflare provides our hosting infrastructure. SpeedCheckWeb is independent: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Cloudflare, by any internet provider, or by any other speed test company.
How we are funded
SpeedCheckWeb is free to use. We may show advertising in the future to cover running costs. If we do, ads will be kept away from the test itself, and advertisers will have no influence over our measurements or our guides.
